See the World & Stay on Track: 3 Tips for Traveling with Invisalign

Invisalign’s flexibility, ability to provide faster results, easy maintenance, and discretion make it an attractive solution for many individuals. But these benefits don’t only apply while at home experiencing daily life. They also show up while traveling the world. If you are preparing for a big trip and want to make sure you don’t fall behind with treatment, here are 3 tips to keep in mind when it comes to Invisalign.

Don’t Become Relaxed with the 22-Hour Wear Time

It’s easy to fall out of your routine while on vacation. Snacking always seems to increase when spending time in a car, on a plane, etc. As a result, you may notice that you’re not wearing your Invisalign trays as often as you should.

The 22-hour wear time rule is essential if you want to avoid a delay in your Invisalign treatment. Keeping them in will ensure your teeth continue to move as they should.

If you need help remembering to wear your aligners, download one of the many apps that can make it easier to follow a schedule that keeps your treatment on track.

Pack a Small Bag with Essentials

Whether you’re backpacking through Europe, going to the beach, or spending time in the mountains, always keep a small bag with the essentials in it. These include a small travel toothbrush and toothpaste, dental floss, mouthwash, and extra aligners.

At some point, you’ll need to clean your teeth after eating, so having this travel kit on hand will make it easier to care for your smile and aligners throughout the day. Also, if you are gone when it’s time to switch to a new set, you’ll have an extra pair ready to go.

Ask About Water Safety

This may not be something you think of when traveling, but not all places have safe drinking water. If you want to avoid getting sick, make sure the water you’re using to brush your teeth and clean your aligners is safe to use.

If it’s not, keep bottled water on hand so that you always have something you can use to rinse your mouth and your aligners.

Traveling with Invisalign doesn’t have to be difficult or unnerving. Instead, meet with your dentist beforehand to make sure you have everything you need and know what to do while enjoying your time away.
